Every year our MS Softball Invitational has a greater purpose.† We have an opening ceremony where all four teams (Millard South, Omaha Central, Lincoln Southwest, Millard South) in the tournament honor or walk with a cancer survivor or in recognition of a cancer victim. As far as it is known, this is the only tournament in any sport where all participating teams are directly involved in the recognition of the fight against cancer.† We try and raise a little bit of money at the same time to make a donation to cancer charities.† This year we are going to donate to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (in honor of my dad, Tom Kerkman, who passed away in August) and also the Nicki G Foundation (sophomore Millard South player Peyton Glatter's mom's Cancer Foundation). Nicki Glatter passed away in December of 2014.
Millard South's chapter of National Honor Society inducted 25 new members on Sunday, October 4th. Members were selected based on the core values of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.† Please congratulate these members on their achievement!
